Why this hymnal
Made for pianists who want an easier way to serve
Christmas music is hard! Hymns often have a simpler chord structure, but Christmas carols can get quite complex. This book is designed to make Christmas carols easy to play by simplifying the chords, simplifying the melody line, and help you get right into playing the music.
A single melody line
A single-note melody in the right hand, with the full hymn lyrics.
Chord symbols on their own staff
Simple chord symbols on a staff of their own. No bass clef reading required.
No key signatures
Sharps and flats are written right in the music where they occur.
Same simple style as Volume 1
Arranged in the same simple style as The Simple Hymnal, so the volumes match.
Color interior
8.5 x 11 with a color interior.
A look inside
Open fifths in the left hand
Each carol has been arranged to provide a simple, accessible accompaniment while still supporting congregational singing. The goal is not to create a performance arrangement, but to help pianists confidently accompany familiar hymns in worship.
The left hand plays easy open fifths: the root and the fifth of the chord. A C chord is C and G. A G chord is G and D.
